Before washing:
- Separate clothes for washing according to colors. This prevents staining and keeps colors bright and like new.
- Cotton articles tend to shed fluff and shrink in the first few washes, which is a natural characteristic of the fiber. Avoid mixing new products with already used products.
- Do not wash cotton/polyester and cotton/viscose articles with 100% cotton articles. The friction between the fabrics inside the washing machine and dryer causes pilling. An excessive amount of articles placed in the washing machine increases this friction, further leading to fading and increasing fabric wear. Washing machines with rotating drum (front loading) are less aggressive on fabrics and more economical when compared to top loading machines.
Gentle washing cycle:
- Bath and beach towels should be washed in a gentle cycle in automatic washing machines or for a reduced agitation time in others. Excessive agitation causes pilling.
- If hand washed, avoid using brushes or any other items that could cause wear to the fabric or lead to color fading.
- Use powder or liquid soap and softeners in the quantities recommended by the manufacturer. Dissolve soap powder before placing in the machine to avoid unpleasant stains. An excess of these products can also cause staining, fading and reduce towel absorption. Softeners form an oily layer on fibers which can reduce their water absorption powers as well as causing river and sea pollution.
- Do not soak articles for a long time as this can cause stains and take away the brightness of colors.
- Try to avoid placing folded articles in the washing machine. Folded parts are subject to greater friction, increasing fabric wear and color loss to these areas.
Little heat, no bleach:
- The label fixed to the product will indicate maximum washing temperature. Do not use products that contain chlorine (bleaches) on colored fabrics. These fade the colors used for dyeing and in patterns. Carefully check the labels of all cleaning products used.
- Remove the clothes for drying immediately after washing. If wet clothes are left for a long time in the machine or in a bucket, this can cause staining and mildew.
- When using a dryer, cotton/polyester and, most importantly, polypropylene/polyester articles must be dried at minimum temperature. See recommendations on product label for the best way to dry your product.
- When ironing clothes, carefully follow product label instructions, especially in relation to iron temperature and the use of steam.
Important Observations when Buying Döhler Products:
- Always read the instructions on the packaging, such as product size, pattern and composition. Check that the product pattern inside the package is really the one you chose.
- Before buying products from the bed, table, bath and decoration lines, check that the measurements are adequate for your needs.
- When choosing product size, allow for some shrinkage, a natural cotton feature.
